The Central Placement Cell (CPC), Panjab University, Chandigarh, has initiated its second 30-hour Value Added Course aimed at enhancing students’ professional preparedness and workplace competencies. The course, titled “Career Catalyst: Mastering Soft Skills for the Modern Workplace”, is being conducted in the Department of Computer Science and Applications and marks another step in CPC’s sustained efforts to promote employability-focused learning across the university.

Chandigarh, January 21, 2026: The Central Placement Cell (CPC), Panjab University, Chandigarh, has initiated its second 30-hour Value Added Course aimed at enhancing students’ professional preparedness and workplace competencies. The course, titled “Career Catalyst: Mastering Soft Skills for the Modern Workplace”, is being conducted in the Department of Computer Science and Applications and marks another step in CPC’s sustained efforts to promote employability-focused learning across the university.

The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Mr. Vivek Atray, renowned motivational speaker, author, and former IAS officer. He laid emphasis on self-assessment, SWOT analysis, and goal setting provided valuable direction to students from a wide range of departments, including Computer Science and Applications, English, History, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Library Science, Social Work, Public Health, Statistics, and UIAMS.

The structured curriculum of the course is designed to address essential professional competencies required in contemporary organisations. Key focus areas include verbal and non-verbal communication, team effectiveness, time and stress management, interview readiness, group discussion skills, and workplace professionalism. The course brings together experienced corporate trainers and academicians, including Dr. Anuradha Verma, Dr. Manvinder Kaur, and other distinguished industry professionals, who will engage participants through interactive and practice-oriented sessions.

While addressing the participants, Prof. Meena Sharma, Director, Central Placement Cell, emphasised the importance of continuous skill development alongside academic learning. She highlighted that such initiatives are intended to foster confidence, adaptability, and career clarity among students. Dr. Rohini Sharma, Associate Director, Central Placement Cell, underlined the growing relevance of soft skills in shaping long-term professional success. Dr. Anuj Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Applications, welcomed the guests and encouraged students to remain proactive in upgrading their skill sets in line with evolving industry expectations.
