Central and State Governments Committed to the Welfare of the Last Person in Society: HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan

Nilokheri, March 14, 2026: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Haryana, the respective governments are working effectively to address the concerns and ensure the welfare of the "last person" in society, while also ensuring that 100% of the benefits from government schemes reach eligible citizens. The achievements of both governments are clearly visible on the ground. Statistics and official records corroborate this, and the public's growing trust in the government stands as the greatest testament to the success of these schemes. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD) and State Spokesperson for the BJP.

He was addressing the party office-bearers and workers of the Nigdu Mandal at an event organized as part of the 'Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Mega Training Campaign 2026' to discuss the government's achievements.

BJP State spokesperson, Dr. Chauhan said that over the past few years, both the Central and State governments have undertaken numerous major public welfare initiatives, the direct benefits of which are reaching the common people. He highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister's Housing Scheme), more than 40 million permanent houses (pakka houses) have been constructed across the country, thereby providing poor families with the opportunity to live a life of dignity.

He further noted that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, clean drinking water has been delivered via taps to the homes of over 157.9 million families across the nation. Additionally, the objective of providing electricity to every household has been achieved, and continuous efforts are now underway to ensure 24-hour electricity supply even in villages. He added that through the Ujjwala Yojana, gas connections have been provided to women, liberating them from the hazards of indoor smoke. Furthermore, under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, free medical treatment worth up to ₹500,000 per annum is being made available to over 550 million people.

The HIRD Director, Dr. Chauhan said that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, farmers are being provided with financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually, and to date, an amount exceeding ₹3.7 lakh crore has been directly transferred into farmers' accounts. He noted that today, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), funds allocated for government schemes are reaching beneficiaries' bank accounts directly. So far, an amount exceeding ₹44 lakh crore has been disbursed via DBT, resulting in savings of approximately ₹3.48 lakh crore and effectively curbing corruption.

He further remarked that in the state, young people are now securing employment opportunities based solely on their merit— “Bina Parchi, Bina Kharchi” (without the need for bribes or recommendations)—which has significantly strengthened their trust in the government.

The party workers present at the event received detailed information regarding various government schemes through a comprehensive training campaign. Prominent among those present during the event were Mandal President Rajpal, General Secretary Malkhan Singh, Mandal In-charge Santosh Pal, General Secretary Shailendra Setia, former Chairman JP Sanwat, Phool Singh, Grievance Committee member Balbir, and CM Window member Reena Rani and Sunita Tehri, alongside a large number of other party office-bearers and workers.
