With the joint efforts of the Census Department, Chandigarh, and District Administration Ludhiana, a special awareness stall on Census 2027 was set up at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, during the eight-day Youth Festival commencing today.
Ludhiana, October 30, 2026: With the joint efforts of the Census Department, Chandigarh, and District Administration Ludhiana, a special awareness stall on Census 2027 was set up at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, during the eight-day Youth Festival commencing today.
The initiative was undertaken under the guidance of Himanshu Jain, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, and Shreyanshee Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Census Officer, Ludhiana, with the objective of spreading awareness about the upcoming Phase-II of Census 2027 among students, youth and the general public.
Through the awareness stall, students, visitors and other guests were sensitised about the importance of Census 2027, the Self-Enumeration facility and the upcoming Population Enumeration process.
Special emphasis was laid on the Self-Enumeration facility, which will remain open across Punjab from November 16 to 30, 2026. Citizens can submit their household information online from the comfort of their homes by visiting the official portal se.census.gov.in. Upon successful submission, a Self-Enumeration ID will be generated, which must be shared with the visiting Enumerator during the subsequent field visit.
It was also highlighted that Population Enumeration fieldwork will be conducted from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027, followed by a Revisional Round from January 5 to 9, 2027. During this period, Enumerators will visit households to collect the required information.
Citizens were encouraged to actively participate in Self-Enumeration and share their generated ID with the Enumerator. This will help save time, avoid duplication of effort and facilitate faster and more accurate data collection.
The awareness initiative also aims to engage the youth as ambassadors of Census awareness and encourage wider public participation in making Census 2027 a successful exercise.
