Chandigarh, March 19, 2024: The Department of Foods and Nutrition at Home Science College celebrated Poshan Pakhwada aimed at enhancing awareness and promoting hygiene practices within the college community. As part of this initiative, a workshop for appropriate hygiene practices was organized specifically for the mess workers and canteen staff of the college.

The workshop, held on Tuesday, witnessed active participation from the students of M.Sc. Foods and Nutrition 4th semester, who took charge in demonstrating the pivotal role of hygiene and sanitation practices in food handling and preparation. Various aspects including the importance of wearing lab coats, gloves, and head covers, as well as the appropriate method of handwashing, were meticulously elaborated upon. Furthermore, the session delved into efficient methods of storing perishable and non-perishable foods, alongside innovative approaches to utilizing leftover food effectively.

The Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the students for their exemplary demonstration. Emphasizing the significance of implementing such learnings in day-to-day operations, the principal encouraged the mess workers and canteen staff to incorporate these practices into their routines to prevent spread of infectious diseases.
