Canadian International School, Bangalore to Host EARCOS Workshop on Inquiry-Based Learning
This two-day professional learning event will welcome educators from across South and East Asia

Bangalore, September 15, 2025: Canadian International School (CIS), Bangalore, will host the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) Weekend Workshop “Designing for Inquiry: Cultivating Curiosity, Motivation, and Engagement” on September 20–21, 2025. This two-day professional learning event will welcome educators from across South and East Asia to the CIS campus, strengthening the school’s commitment to advancing innovative teaching practices.
Inquiry-based learning is a student-centered approach as it emphasizes curiosity, reflection, and engagement, empowering students to move from passive receivers of information to active constructors of meaning. The upcoming workshop will provide educators with practical strategies and collaborative opportunities to design inquiry-based learning experiences that build conceptual understanding and promote deeper student participation.
Over the course of the two days, the workshop will examine how curiosity and motivation can drive student learning, while also exploring practical strategies to foster stronger classroom engagement and participation. Sessions will look at the application of inquiry practices across grade levels and disciplines, and consider how teachers can design learning experiences that move beyond memorization to develop deeper conceptual understanding.
The vision at CIS has always been to nurture, challenge, and empower learners, encouraging them to take ownership of what they learn and how they learn it. The inquiry model reflects this philosophy, promoting active participation rather than passive reception. By hosting the EARCOS Weekend Workshop, CIS extends this commitment to educators, providing a platform to collaborate, reflect, and strengthen practices that inspire curiosity and engagement in classrooms across the region.
The program underscores CIS’s role as a hub for professional development, providing a platform where educators can exchange ideas, examine best practices, and take away practical insights that can transform their classrooms.
