Khanna (Ludhiana), August 19, 2025: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Dalit Development Board Chairman Vijay Danav on Tuesday held a meeting with sanitation and sewer workers and listened to their grievances. 

Both Minister and Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of Punjab government for the welfare of the workers. 

The meeting was organized by Safai Sewak Karamchari Union President Garibdas and Anil Kumar Gattu to voice their legitimate demands. The workers highlighted key concerns, including the regularization of all sanitation and sewer workers on a priority basis, reinstatement of the old pension scheme, direct recruitment of approximately 200 new sanitation and sewer workers considering Khanna’s expanded municipal limits, and the complete abolition of the contractual system.


The Minister and Chairman assured the workers that the Punjab Government would promptly review their demands and prioritize resolving their issues. They emphasized the government’s dedication to improving the living standards of sanitation workers, sewer workers, and their families. They stated that the government is taking every possible step to ensure the progress and welfare of sanitation workers. 

The workers expressed gratitude to Minister  and Chairman for their support and for taking the time to address their concerns.
