Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Friday launched the Nasha Mukti Yatra in Sahnewal, further intensifying Punjab’s fight against drugs as part of the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign.

Sahnewal (Ludhiana), May 16, 2025: Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Friday launched the Nasha Mukti Yatra in Sahnewal, further intensifying Punjab’s fight against drugs as part of the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign.
Visiting Dashmesh Kalan, Mundian Khurd, and Mundian Tibba villages in the Sahnewal constituency, the Minister engaged directly with village defense committees and residents to lead a robust awareness campaign against the drug menace.
Addressing the gatherings, Mundian emphasized that the Nasha Mukti Yatra aims to reach every household in Punjab, urging people to report drug traffickers and take the drug victims to de-addiction centers. He called for unity with the government, stating that collective action is vital to transform Punjab into a drug-free state. He lauded the enthusiastic turnout of villagers, panchayats, and youth in the meetings, highlighting their dedication as key to the campaign’s success.
Mundian noted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been waging this war against drugs for three months and is now taking the message of a Nasha Mukt Punjab to every street. He declared, issuing a firm ultimatum to drug dealers either cease their illegal trade or leave Punjab.” He emphasized the pivotal role of village and ward-level defense committees in disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks.
The Minister also stressed the need for strong collaboration between the public, district administration and police, encouraging citizens to share information about drug activities anonymously via the WhatsApp helpline.
During the events, Mundian administered an oath to villagers, including panchs, sarpanchs, and defense committee members, to serve as guardians of their communities and eliminate the drug scourge.
