Sahnewal (Ludhiana), May 17, 2025: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Saturday dedicated infrastructure development projects worth Rs 57.63 lakh at six government primary schools in the Sahnewal constituency. 


The inaugurated projects at Government Primary Schools (GPS) Mangarh,  Katani Kalan, Barwala, Bhaini Sahib, Raian and Katani Khurd mark a significant step in the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative to revolutionize education across the state.


The initiative focuses on upgrading school infrastructure, including modern school buildings, smart classrooms, updated furniture, state-of-the-art laboratories, secure boundary walls, clean drinking water facilities, and well-equipped libraries.

Addressing the inauguration of ceremonies, Minister Mundian emphasized that under Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative, an investment of Rs 2,000 crores is being spent for the transformation of the schools. He reiterated the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 2022 election promise to overhaul Punjab’s education and health sectors, stating, “We pledged to provide world-class infrastructure, recruit skilled professionals, and offer top-tier training. He added that Punjab’s 20,000 government schools serve approximately 28 lakh students, many of whom previously studied in substandard conditions. Over the past three years, the Punjab government has made significant strides, including providing Wi-Fi connectivity to 17,000 schools to enable digital learning and recruiting new teachers to ensure quality education. 

Residents of villages expressed gratitude for the infrastructure upgrades. They stated that the new smart classrooms and boundary walls will make the schools a better place for learning. They thanked the Punjab government for prioritizing our children’s education.
