BSF foils smuggling bid, seizes heroin and drone near Ferozepur Border
Even as floodwaters continue to grip border villages, the Border Security Force (BSF) has once again thwarted a major smuggling attempt by recovering a consignment of heroin and a drone along the Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur sector.

Ferozepur, August 28, 2025: Even as floodwaters continue to grip border villages, the Border Security Force (BSF) has once again thwarted a major smuggling attempt by recovering a consignment of heroin and a drone along the Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur sector.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of the 155 Battalion along with Punjab Police launched a joint search operation near Border Outpost Gatti Hayat. During the operation, a large packet was found, which on opening revealed 12 smaller packets of heroin weighing between 500 to 510 grams each, totalling 6.086 kg. Lying close to the consignment was an assembled hexacopter drone believed to have been used for cross-border smuggling.
In a separate incident, alert troops of the 99 Battalion recovered another drone near Border Outpost Pachharian. Following the recovery, the Punjab Police registered a case at Arif Ke police station and booked one person in connection with the incident.
Officials said the recoveries once again highlight the persistent attempts by drug syndicates to exploit vulnerable stretches of the border, even amid natural calamities. However, the BSF’s vigilance and swift action have prevented the contraband from reaching its intended networks.
