Blackout mock drill from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM on Friday
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Poonam Singh on Thursday informed that a blackout mock drill will be conducted on Friday from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Kitchlu Nagar, and other areas falling under the Aggar Nagar PSPCL division.

Ludhiana, April 23, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Poonam Singh on Thursday informed that a blackout mock drill will be conducted on Friday from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Kitchlu Nagar, and other areas falling under the Aggar Nagar PSPCL division.
Urging residents not to panic, the ADC clarified that the exercise is purely a preparedness drill aimed at assessing readiness to tackle any exigency in the future. She appealed to the public to refrain from spreading or believing any rumours or fake news related to the exercise.
Poonam Singh called upon residents to extend full cooperation by switching off all lights during the drill and avoiding the use of generator sets, power backup systems, torches, candles, or matchsticks. She further informed that sirens will be sounded at around 7:55 PM, along with announcements from public places, to alert residents about the drill. Following the sirens, PSPCL will temporarily cut the power supply as part of the exercise.
The ADC emphasized that the blackout should be observed strictly and in its true spirit.
The drill will commence at PAU with an alarm and will witness coordinated participation from multiple agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade, district administration, Municipal Corporation, police, health department, Civil Defence, and NCC. Organized by the district administration, the exercise aims to simulate a real-time emergency response scenario and strengthen inter-agency coordination.
