Corners AAP government over drugs, gangsterism and corruption; says people's trust in BJP is growing
Chandigarh, October 23, 2026: In the presence of BJP Punjab state president Kewal Singh Dhillon, several Shiromani Akali Dal leaders from Sri Muktsar Sahib joined the BJP today. They include Maninder Singh Mehndi (former MC and circle president, SAD); Navneet Singh Navi Brar (in-charge, IT Cell Punjab, and vice president, SOI Punjab); Harmeet Singh Buttar (youth Akali leader); Harmandar Pal Pehalwan (youth leader and fitness coach); and Lakhvir Singh Khirkianwala (youth Akali leader).
Warmly welcoming them into the BJP family, Dhillon said this reflects the growing faith of Punjabis under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He said the BJP's caravan in Punjab is growing day by day, with leaders and workers from various parties joining. He added that the people of Punjab, especially the youth, are placing their trust in the BJP's policies and development agenda.
Dhillon said Punjab today is plagued by drugs, gangsterism, extortion, a worsening law and order situation, corruption and debt, and that the AAP government has failed on all these issues. He said Punjabis have seen the rule of every party, and there is now one voice among the people: give the BJP a chance this time. Therefore, he said, the BJP will form the government in Punjab this time and rebuild a prosperous Punjab like the Sarkar-e-Khalsa of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh. District president Kuldeep Singh Bhangewala was also present.
