BJP Leaders Themselves Expose Government Corruption during DISHA Committee Meeting: Former CM Hooda
Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that corruption has reached its zenith under the BJP government and leaders, MPs, and MLAs belonging to the BJP government have themselves admitted that roads constructed during the Congress regime remain intact even after 10 years, whereas roads built under the BJP government do not last even 10 days during the DISHA Committee meeting.
Rohtak, May 14, 2026: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that corruption has reached its zenith under the BJP government and leaders, MPs, and MLAs belonging to the BJP government have themselves admitted that roads constructed during the Congress regime remain intact even after 10 years, whereas roads built under the BJP government do not last even 10 days during the DISHA Committee meeting.
Addressing a press conference at Rohtak today, Hooda said new scams are surfacing one after another on a daily basis. This clearly demonstrates that work was executed with integrity during the Congress government, whereas corruption is rampant under the BJP administration.
Hooda noted that, according to NCRB reports, an average of nine people commit suicide daily in Haryana. There is deep despair among the youth, as they are unable to find work or employment. “The youth and citizens of Haryana are grappling with severe depression, unemployment, economic insecurity, and mental stress while the BJP government is deliberately depriving Haryana’s youth of jobs and is instead awarding these positions to people from outside the state,” he said.
Citing examples from various recruitment drives, the Leader of the Opposition alleged that rules were deliberately framed specifically to exclude the youth of Haryana, in violation of UGC guidelines. “In the recruitment for Assistant Professors in Hindi, out of 60 selected candidates in the General Category, 41 were from other states,” he said.
“In the recruitment for Assistant Professors in English, which comprised 613 posts, only 151 candidates were selected, while the remaining posts were left vacant. Furthermore, committing a grave injustice against the DSC category, only one candidate was selected out of the 60 reserved seats,” he added.
Hooda further added that in the recruitment for Assistant Professors in Psychology, out of 400 candidates vying for 85 posts, only three were selected. In the recruitment drive for AE/SDO positions within Haryana Power Utilities (HPU), 214 candidates were called for document verification, of whom only 29 were from Haryana. Similarly, in recruitment drives for the Civil Irrigation Department, Technical Education Department, SDO (Electrical), Lecturer Group-B, Assistant Professor (Political Science), and the Agriculture Department (ADO), a conspiracy was hatched against the youth of Haryana, and preference was accorded to candidates from outside the state.
Welcoming the decision by the Punjab and Haryana High Court to quash the recruitment process for Assistant Professors in English, he stated that this marks a victory for the long-drawn struggle of Haryana's youth. The Court explicitly clarified that the government's guidelines dated November 11, 2022, constitute a violation of the UGC Guidelines of 2018.
Hooda remarked that under the BJP government, sanitation workers are also facing grave injustice. “Employees recruited during the Congress regime have yet to be regularized, they continue to be employed on a contractual basis and receive their salaries with a delay of four months at times. While entire cities have turned into cesspools of filth, the government remains unwilling to engage in dialogue with the striking sanitation workers,” he said.
Expressing concern over the state's economic health, the Leader of the Opposition stated that the BJP government has plunged Haryana into a debt burden exceeding ₹5 lakh crore. This government has neither established a single major project nor undertaken any noteworthy developmental work.
He also noted that indications emanating from the Central Government point towards a further escalation in inflation. “In the near future, the prices of petrol and diesel are likely to rise, a development that will deal yet another severe blow to the public, who are already grappling with high inflation,” he said.
