Birth anniversary of Guru Rabindranath Tagore celebrated 

Jalandhar, May 7, 2022: To commemorate the birth anniversary of the  Nobel Laureate Guru  Rabindranath Tagore, a lecture was organised by the English Literary Society. The speaker of the day was Associate Professor  Dr. Mrs.Neena Mittal  of PCM.S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar. She familiarised the students  with the  life and teachings of Guru  Rabindranath Tagore. She informed the audience that he is the first and the only  Indian  till date to receive the prestigious Nobel Prize in literature for his world famous book Gitanjali which has been  translated into several languages of the world. She also talked about Shantiniketan, a unique educational institution established by Guru ji to secure the harmony between man and Nature. 

Acknowledging and appreciating the significance of this academic initiative for the students, the members of the Managing Committee and the Principal,  Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar lauded the endeavours of the  Head, Department of English, Ujla Dada Joshi for organizing such informative lectures to associate the students with the rich cultural heritage of India. 

The organising committee comprised Aabroo Sharma, Gurjit Kaur and Indu Tyagi. The lecture proved to be thoroughly enlightening for the students.
