Biotech department of DAV College organised a one-day workshop

Jalandhar, February 5, 2019: One day workshop was organised by Biotech department of DAV college on "Hands on training in Bioinfomatics" in which Prof.Manish Chopra were present as the resource person . Principal Dr.S.K.Arora and head of Biotech department Dr.Renuka malhotra welcomed Prof.Manish Chopra by presenting them a flower bouquet. Prof.Manisha chopra gave basic information about Bioinfomatics and explained the importance of medical field. She delivered a talk on basic concepts of bioinformatics and highlighted the importance of the subject in mechanical field .during practical session she acquainted the students with the usage of data base like NCBI ,pubmed ,KE99,etc. She also informed the students about the different prospectus of the bioinformatics and it's applications in biotechnology research field. Principal Dr. S. K. Arora congratulated the Biotech department for organising this workshop. He said that, "Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data. As an interdisciplinary field of science, bioinformatics combines biology, computer science, information engineering, mathematics and statistics to analyze and interpret biological data ." That is why you all need to be aware about this. Head of biotech department Dr. Renuka malhotra thanked Prof. Manish chopra for giving his time to the college. She said that, "Bioinformatics has been used for in silico analyses of biological queries using mathematical and statistical techniques." And you all got to learn so many new things during this workshop and for this credits goes to Prof. Chopra . At the end Prof. Dr. Sanjay sharma presented a vote of thanks. During this workshop Prof. Harpreet kaur, Prof. Diksha Sharma, Dr. Kanika sharma, Lab assistant Shri. Shashi and Shri . Ajay along with the students of biotech department were present there.
