"BHARANGAM" and "SARANG" festivals conclude with the captivating colours of song, music, acting and theatre
The 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav (Bhararangam) organised by the National School of Drama (NSD) at Dada Lakhmi Chand State Performing and Visual Arts University (DLC SUPVA) and the university's own “Sarang” festival concluded on Thursday with colourful presentations of song, music, acting and dance.
Rohtak, February 12, 2026: The 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav (Bhararangam) organised by the National School of Drama (NSD) at Dada Lakhmi Chand State Performing and Visual Arts University (DLC SUPVA) and the university's own “Sarang” festival concluded on Thursday with colourful presentations of song, music, acting and dance.
The grand closing ceremony of this four-day festival was attended by renowned personalities from the world of art and culture, including Padma Shri awardee renowned folk singer Malini Awasthi, actress Meghna Malik of "Na Aana Is Des Laado" fame, Bollywood actor Sunil Chitkara, actor Vikram Kochhar, Shrivardhan Trivedi of "Sansani" fame, Virendra Badkhalsa (OSD to CM Haryana), Narendra Thakur (Coordinator of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhna Film Festival), Anil Pandey (head of the Children's Foundation), Sanjay Kushwaha (organization secretary of ABVP), actress Sumitra Hooda Pednekar, and film director Atul Gangwar.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha welcomed the guests and honored them with mementos.
In the closing session, Malini Awasthi gave a captivating performance of the songs sung by women during weddings in Purvanchal, saying that while our grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and other elderly women hadn't learned acting formally, yet they could brilliantly portray the expressions of laughter and tears during wedding songs. The audience was thrilled by her rendition of the song "Nakhre Wali Banno Aayi Piya." Actress Meghna Malik also couldn't resist and came on stage to dance. Malini Awasthi compared the atmosphere at SUPVA to that of the National School of Drama (NSD), saying that the way Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya has sown the seeds of art in SUPVA, and has nurtured it, is remarkable.
Actress Meghna Malik said that previously, the only institute for acting was the NSD, which most people even didn't know about. But today, there's an institute like SUPVA in Rohtak. She urged students to learn as much as possible from their teachers.
Sansani fame anchor and theatre personality Shrivardhan Trivedi expressed hope that DLC SUPVA will bring such events to the forefront. Film actor Vikram Kochhar also addressed the gathering.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's OSD, Virendra Badkhalsa, praised the university administration and students for this wonderful event. He also conveyed Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's best wishes to the university family for this grand event.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the NSD had chosen SUPVA to host the 25th edition of Bharangam, which is a matter of great pride. Sharing the revival of the Saarang Festival, he said that the university is preparing a comprehensive roadmap to regularly organize such large-scale events in the future.
Earlier, Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha gave a brief overview of the four-day festival's activities and expressed her gratitude to everyone.
The last day of “SARANG” witnessed the theater, music, dance, poetry readings, folk dances, and interactive sessions, showcasing the art and culture of various states across the country. Fifty university students presented Kathak, Bharatnatyam, theater, body movement theater, Bhangra, Qawwali, and music. The program began with the invocation of the lord. Artists performed the divine acts of Krishna in Assamese classical dance forms associated with the Vaishnava Bhakti movement. The mesmerizing music performance by Sudhir Rekhari's band left the audiences captivated.
