Ludhiana, September 3, 2025: National BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, Bhukhri Kalan, has held Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party, and the Punjab Government directly responsible for the devastating floods in Punjab.
Grewal said that the false propaganda spread by the Punjab Government against Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the Government of India has collapsed completely. He stated that BBMB, on the basis of scientific advice and the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, had recommended releasing water from the Bhakra Dam in April to prevent flooding. However, the Punjab Government not only opposed this advice but also forcibly took over the Bhakra Dam with police force to block the release of water.
He added that the Mann government’s reckless and shortsighted decision, taken only to prevent water from reaching Haryana and Rajasthan, has today resulted in Punjab being submerged, with crops destroyed, houses washed away, and people left in despair.
Grewal said a media report has already brought the truth before the public BBMB was ready to release water, but the Punjab Government opposed it. He alleged that one of Mann’s ministers even went to the extent of physically taking control of the dam, a move he termed “irresponsible, unlawful, and disastrous for Punjab.”
The BJP leader further said that those attempting to malign BBMB and the Government of India are enemies of Punjab’s peace and prosperity. He accused them of acting as stooges of Pakistan-backed Khalistani forces, misusing the flood tragedy to spread anti-India propaganda.
“The reality is clear BBMB is not guilty, the Government of India is not guilty. The sole responsibility for this man-made disaster lies with Bhagwant Mann and his government,” Grewal asserted. He said Punjab needs leadership that is responsible, capable, and truthful, not one that indulges in propaganda and reckless decisions.
