BACKFINCO vice chairman Mohd Gulab welcomes decision of Punjab Government 

Ludhiana:     The Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (Backfinco) vice chairman Mohd Gulab today welcomed the Punjab government decision of strict action against industrialists/businessmen/shopkeepers who are either not paying salaries/wages to their labour or are terminating their services without any reason. He said that during the lockdown/curfew imposed due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19), some of the industrialists/businessmen/shopkeepers either stopped paying salaries/wages to their labour or started terminating their services without any reason.
    Mohd Gulab welcomed the decision of Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government decision of standing in the interest of migrant labourers, which has been welcomed by all migrant labourers.
    He informed that in this regard, he had brought a matter to the notice of Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, on which he has clarified that if any industrialist/businessman/shopkeeper stops paying salaries/wages to their labour or terminate their services without any reason, then strict action under the labour act would be taken against them. He said that the Union government has issued strict directions in this regard, under which it is compulsory to pay 100% salary/wage to the labour. He informed that due to regular complaints in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner has authorised three senior government officers, General Manager District Industries Centre Ludhiana, Deputy Director Factories and Assistant Labour Commissioner to recommend due action over such complaints.
    Mohd Gulab said that the Punjab government is committed for the welfare of migrant labourers and safeguarding their rights. He said that sincere efforts are being made to provide all basic facilities such as ration & others to the migrant labourers.
