Rohtak, April 27, 2026: On the occasion of World Malaria Day, an awareness program was organized by students of the College of Nursing at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences. The event aimed to inspire action toward eradicating malaria, centering on the theme: "Now We Can, Now We Must." Under the guidance of Principal Prof. Sunita Kumari, second-year M.Sc. Nursing and Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing students actively participated in the program.
The primary objective of this program was to raise awareness among the general public regarding malaria and to provide accurate, scientific information concerning its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Through chart displays and health talks, the students explained—in simple language—the factors responsible for the spread of malaria, such as mosquito breeding, stagnant water, and unhygienic surroundings.
Furthermore, special emphasis was placed on the importance of timely diagnosis and complete treatment, in addition to highlighting the major symptoms of malaria—including fever, chills, sweating, and headaches. The public was encouraged to use mosquito nets, maintain hygiene, and prevent water from accumulating in their surroundings.
Present at the event were faculty members Sunita Devi, Rammoorti Devi, and Sushila Devi; Dr. Seema and Dr. Palak from the Department of Community Medicine; Block Educator Satpal Balhara; and Health Worker Manjit.
