Author Bachint Kaur Honoured with ‘Mata Tej Kaur Sanghera Memorial Award’
At the annual honour ceremony organised by Lok Rang Sahit Sabha, Barnala, this year’s ‘Mata Tej Kaur Sanghera Memorial Award’ was presented to the renowned Punjabi storyteller Bachint Kaur.
Barnala: At the annual honour ceremony organised by Lok Rang Sahit Sabha, Barnala, this year’s ‘Mata Tej Kaur Sanghera Memorial Award’ was presented to the renowned Punjabi storyteller Bachint Kaur.
At the beginning of the event, Bhola Singh Sanghera stated that this honour, which has been given for the past ten years to distinguished Punjabi writers, will continue in the future as well.
Presiding over the function, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Kakra said that today’s honour is not just the honour of Bachint Kaur, but the honour of all women associated with literary creation.
Chief guests Prof. Surjit Judge and Dr. Joginder Singh Nirala said that Bachint Kaur stepped into the field of literature at a time when ordinary women were not even allowed to step outside their homes. She carved out new paths in the literary world.
Dr. Teja Singh Tilak, Dr. Tarspal Kaur and Dr. Ram Pal Shahpuri said that Bachint Kaur’s writings have given today’s women the courage to write. She has contributed many timeless works to Punjabi literature.
In the discussion, Dr. Davinder Kaur Saini, Paramjit Maan, Principal Darshan Cheema, Dr. Sampuran Singh Talewalia, Hakim Roorke, Rajinder Shauki, Lachhman Das Musafir, and Jagjit Kaur Dhilwan also participated.
On this occasion, Progressive Writers’ Association National General Secretary Dr. Sukhdev Singh Sirsa, Punjabi Sahit Academy Ludhiana President Dr. Sarabjit Singh, General Secretary Gulzar Singh Pandher, Dr. Labh Singh Khiva, Prof. Ravinder Bhatthal, Dr. Guraikbal Singh, Surinder Rampuri, Harmeet Vidyarthi, Pargat Singh Satauj, Som Pal Heera and others were present.
