Athletic talent shines at Annual Athletic Meet 2026 at Ramgarhia Girls College

Ludhiana, March 7, 2026: The Annual Athletic Meet was organised with great enthusiasm and joy at Ramgarhia Girls College. On this special occasion, Sohan Lal Lotey, Former Deputy Director of Sports, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Gurcharan Singh, Secretary of the Ramgarhia Educational Council, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest was warmly welcomed with a floral greeting by Ranjodh Singh, President of the Ramgarhia Educational Council, Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur, and Prof. Harmanjot Kaur, Head of the Department of Physical Education.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur encouraged the students and said that the college wishes its students to continue following the path of truth and honesty and achieve their goals through hard work and dedication while fulfilling their dreams. She also dedicated the Annual Athletic Meet to International Women’s Day, highlighting the spirit of strength and empowerment among women.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest hoisted the flag and took the salute of the March Past, formally inaugurating the Athletic Meet. The students also took the oath of sportsmanship. A variety of athletic events were organised, including 50m, 100m, and 200m relay races, long jump, discus throw, and shot put. Along with these competitions, several fun games such as the Spoon and Potato Race, Three-Legged Race, Chatti Race, Skipping Rope, and Sack Race were also conducted, adding excitement and enjoyment to the event.
The students further energized the atmosphere with a lively dance performance. A musical chair activity for both students and teachers were also organised, which brought additional enthusiasm and joy to the gathering.
While addressing the participants, Chief Guest Sohan Lal Lotey appreciated the students and said that the remarkable performance by the girls is truly commendable and proves that girls are not behind boys in any field. He added that when girls set their minds to achieving something, they accomplish it with even greater dedication and commitment.
Guest of Honour Gurcharan Singh also extended his best wishes to the students and expressed pride in the daughters of the city who are excelling in various fields and bringing laurels to Ludhiana across the country. Ranjodh Singh remarked that the students of the institution participate in sports throughout the year with dedication and hard work, winning several medals and bringing pride to themselves and the college.
During the meet, Harmeet Kaur of BA-II was declared the Best Athlete. At the end of the event, prizes were distributed among the winning students to encourage and appreciate their achievements. Members of the Ramgarhia Educational Council and principals of various institutions under the council were also present on the occasion. All the dignitaries were presented with mementos by the college administration. The programme concluded on a patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem.
