Chandigarh, November 21, 2025: Padma Shri Pargat Singh, MLA and Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, strongly condemned the Punjab Government for allegedly initiating an official complaint to get his Twitter (X) handle suspended. Calling the move “a clear sign of frustration and administrative failure,” he said the government cannot silence voices that speak for Punjab’s rights.
Pargat Singh said that Punjab’s worsening law and order situation has become a matter of grave concern. “Since 1 November, not a single day has passed without one or two murders in the state. Every district, every region is witnessing incidents of shootings. The government has lost control, and the public is living in fear,” he said.
He stated that, as a responsible opposition MLA, it is his duty to raise these issues publicly and hold the government accountable.
“Instead of responding to the collapse of law and order, the AAP government is spending its time filing complaints to shut down my Twitter handle. This exposes their panic, not their strength,” he added.
Pargat Singh posed direct questions to the Chief Minister: “Does healthy criticism bother you? Do you want silence instead of accountability? Punjab needs governance, not vendetta politics.”
He also questioned the role of the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly: “Is it acceptable to suppress the voice of an elected representative who is raising legitimate concerns for the people of Punjab?”
The former Education Minister reiterated that the AAP government has failed to control the breakdown of law and order across the state. “Punjab is sliding into chaos, and instead of correcting the situation, the government is targeting those who speak the truth,” he said.
Pargat Singh concluded with a firm warning: “The Congress party will not allow Punjab to be destroyed. Every undemocratic act of this government will be answered, and every attempt to silence the opposition will be exposed.”
