Ludhiana, January 24, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora has lauded Sidhwan Group of Institutions for its role played in the field of education in the last 115 years. 

Arora being the chief guest at 64th Annual Sports Meet of the Institution at Sidhwan Khurd, near here on Wednesday, was addressing students, faculty and others. He congratulated all the winners and participants of the sports meet and motivated them to keep the spirit of sportsmanship always in their professional and routine life. He said he is delighted to learn that the Institution has done a remarkable work in imparting education to girls. He added the Institution had started imparting education to girls in the year 1908 when no one could even image for the same. 

Arora said the popularity and credibility of the institution can be well imagined from the fact that more than 3,500 students are enrolled with it. 

He said he has been apprised that there is a need for converting the institution’s open stadium into a modern one. He assured that he would take up this matter with both the Centre and the state governments. He announced a grant of Rs.20 lakh out of MPLAD Fund for indoor stadium of the institution. He also lauded management of the institution for deciding to start vocational courses in the near future. He said vocational courses are need of the hour for the students. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Institution’s Manager Dr GS Grewal thanked Arora for announcing a grant for indoor stadium. He lauded Arora for his skills and working as a successful businessman and MP. He termed Arora as “King of Punjab”. He said they would always seek guidance of Arora. 

Around 1,200 players from GHGH College of Education, Khalsa College for Women, GHG Institute of Law, GHG Public School and Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School participated in the annual sports meet. The winners and outstanding players were distributed certificates and medals. The students performed giddha and bhangra.

Among others, Dr Amandeep Kaur, Dr Shweta Dhand, Pawan Sood and Daljit Kaur (all principals), Pritam Singh Johal (secretary), Kirpal Singh Bhattal, Harmail Singh Sidhu, Devinder Singh Mann and Jarnail Singh Dhillon were present.
