ANTF foils major narcotics drop, seizes 50.14 kg heroin

Ferozepur, November 22, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) today arrested one Indian drug smuggler and seized 50.14 kg of heroin from him.

AIG ANTF Gurinderbir Singh said that acting on specific intelligence inputs, the team laid a trap and intercepted the accused, identified as Sandeep Singh alias Seepa, a resident of Shanna Sher Singh Wala in Kapurthala district. He was caught while travelling from Bagge Ke Uthar village in Jalalabad after receiving a large consignment of heroin in a KIA Seltos (PB 09 AQ 3598).

The AIG said the accused tried to dodge the police and even attempted to ram his vehicle into the ANTF team, but he was finally chased down near Rau Ke Hithar village in Mamdot block. During the search of the car, the consignment was recovered.

He added that the accused has a criminal record and is involved in eight cases in various police stations across Punjab, including five under the NDPS Act. “He was released on bail on November 3 and had reconnected with Pakistani smugglers. The heroin seized is worth hundreds of crores. His wife is also booked in an NDPS case,” said the AIG.

A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the ANTF police station in Mohali.

The AIG further stated that the police are investigating both backward and forward links. “We are looking into who supplied the consignment and to whom it was meant to be delivered. More revelations are expected in the coming days,” he said.
