Gurgaon, June 9, 2017: Amity University Haryana today organized a Brain storming day on Data Science and Predictive Analytics. The lecture was delivered by Mr R Chandrashekhar, President NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies). Mr R Chandrashekhar delivered his lecture on Data Science: The next big frontier. Data Science is an interdisciplinary field about process and systems to extract insight from data in various forms, either structured, unstructured or semi structured.
NASSCOM, a not-for-profit industry association, is the apex body for the 154 billion dollar IT BPM industry in India, an industry that has made a phenomenal contribution to India's GDP, exports, employment, infrastructure and global visibility. Established in 1988, NASSCOM’s relentless pursuit has been to constantly support the IT BPM industry in India, in the latter’s continued journey towards seeking trust and respect from varied stakeholders, even as it reorients itself time and again to remain innovative, without ever losing its humane and friendly touch. NASSCOM is focused on building the architecture integral to the development of the IT BPM sector through policy advocacy, and help in setting up the strategic direction for the sector to unleash its potential and dominate newer frontiers.
In order to advance frontiers of scientific education to accelerate research and innovations in integrative sciences, expanding horizon of their applications and outreach to industry and community, Amity Institute of Integrative Science and Health (AIISH) has been setup in 2015 under the ageis of Amity University Haryana. With the vision for integrative sciences for nation building and society AIISH is bringing together the wisdom of the traditional knowledge and creating an environment of its integration with the modern science and technology. The institute’s endeavor is to nurture the convergence of learning, integrating sciences for the rapid advancement of the frontiers of science and their applications to the industry and society. To kick off the convergence of ideas to start an interdisciplinary Data Science Program, some of the leading experts from different domain of Data Sciences are invited for a day long brainstorming session at AUH. The leading experts will highlight their research endeavors in the domain of Data Science and flag the issues to put forward the importance in the current scenario. They will also give the directions in setting up the new programme at AUH under the aegis AIISH which will help in promoting the leading university in the country to offer such application oriented programmes in research and teaching that can bridge the gap to train manpower and enhance their employability, that fits the requirements of the global market.
While addressing the gathering Prof (Dr) P B Sharma said “India is a hub of brilliant minds and we are working on data science and predictive analysis from decades. Indian minds are capable to achieve greatness with hard work and talent”.
“Innovation has power to build and destruct, we should know how to make the best use of it and take our country to great heights” Prof Sharma added.
While addressing the gathering Mr R Chandrashekhar had shared perspective from the industry and informed that Data is all pervasive in our world. The world is changing, earlier data was generated by people but now data will be generated by the machines. If data is petroleum than data analytics is refinery”.
No job in IT sector is a myth. There are lots of jobs available in the market but no people to fill them. Jobs required new capabilities and skills he added.
