Covid crises have accelerated the earlier battle of women and widen the inequality for underprivileged girls to access education in remote areas. Women’s leadership roles have significantly increased in all the domains. Dr. Shukla stressed three areas that need immediate attention i.e. attitudinal bias towards women which has been  existing since ages, enabling a conducive work system so that women can take care of their family as well as professional engagements and increasing the women’s participation in the leadership role.

Some of the key thoughts that emerged from the hour-long discussion were:
1) women have the ability to undertake leadership tone as they can mutltitask, have a strong EQ and can handle cross-functional responsibilities.
2) the job roles in this sector are changing as the processes get automated hence women can play an active role.
3) women can also become entrepreneurs not driven by need or necessity but by choice.
4) the logistics industry, not considered safe previously due to long hours, night shifts and isolated warehouses, is making extra effort to encourage gender diversity.
5) the industry should offer more internship opportunities to young girl students so that they can have a first hand experience before they commit to a long term career in this field
6) Finally  the Government of India and apex bodies like CII can provide incentives and reservations to encourage young girls to come forward in this field.
