Amidst minor incidents, Municipal polls ended peacefully

Ferozepur: Except one or two incidents, the municipal council polls ended peacefully in Ferozepur today. Though there was dense fog in the morning, long queues were seen at the booths.

In Ferozepur, 59.8 percent polling was done in 33 wards, in Mamdot 82.9  percent votes at eight wards,  in Talwandi Bhai 74.1 percent votes at 13 wards, in Mudki 79.3 percent votes at 12 wards were polled and in Guruharsahai, 50.57 percent votes were polled in 8 wards.

In Mudki and Mamdot, the election process remained peaceful. Though, there was dense fog in the morning, the voters were seen standing in long queue at several booths.

In Ferozepur city, the members of various farmer’s union held protest against the 12 BJP candidates  who were in fray. The members of the farmer union set up their own booths and displayed the banners “We are farmers not Terrorists”. Farmers Avtar Singh, Harjit Singh, Major Singh, Gurlal Singh said that due to central BJP government, the farmers were bearing the brunt.

“We will keep protesting against the BJP till the time the anti farmers agri bills are not repealed”, said farmers.

Though, the arrangements for sanitization before entering the polling booth were made, nobody was seen wearing the mask or using the sanitizer. Only few elderly voters were seen using the mask and sanitizer.
