Ludhiana, August 14, 2025:  PCTE Group of Institutes proudly organized an enriching guest talk today by Ambassador Sujan R. Chinoy, Director General of the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi. The session was attended by students and faculty members  aiming to bridge academic knowledge with real-world geopolitical and strategic insights.
Ambassador Sujan R. Chinoy is a distinguished veteran of the Indian Foreign Service with over 38 years of exemplary service. A noted expert on China and East Asia, he has served as India’s Ambassador to Japan and Mexico, High Commissioner to Belize, and Consul General in Shanghai and Sydney. Post-retirement in 2018, Ambassador Chinoy has been leading India’s premier think tank on defence and strategic affairs. He has played a key role in national security policymaking, including chairing India’s expert group on confidence-building measures and boundary issues with China, and contributing significantly to the National Security Council Secretariat. He is also a published author, with acclaimed books such as “World Upside Down: India Recalibrates Its Geopolitics” and “Global Tumult: India as a Pole Star”.
The event began with a warm welcome extended to Ambassador Chinoy, who was presented with a bouquet as a gesture of respect and appreciation. His distinguished presence added immense value to the academic environment of the institution.
  During his address, Ambassador Sujan R. Chinoy offered a comprehensive overview of India’s evolving role in the global order. He highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat and India’s emergence as the world’s 4th largest economy - soon poised to become the 3rd. He spoke on the shifting global power dynamics, emphasizing the rise of new powers and the transformation from a normative to an empirical world order. Touching upon key global institutions like the United Nations, IMF, GATT, and the Bretton Woods system, he shed light on their relevance amid changing geopolitical realities. Ambassador Chinoy also discussed the roles of major nations including the rise of Japan and the People’s Republic of China, as well as U.S. foreign policies under Trump and Biden. He delved into themes such as tariffs, technological advancements, and economic cooperation between India and countries like China, the EU, and Japan. Emphasizing India’s independent and multi-aligned foreign policy approach, he called for a balanced, collaborative global leadership in the face of emerging challenges and opportunities.  
The interactive session allowed students to engage directly with the Ambassador, gaining knowledge that extends beyond textbooks, fostering critical thinking and global awareness.
