Chandigarh, November 4, 2015: All round development of a student is the ultimate aim of education. Therefore, it is very important to focus on character building and to inculcate amongst the youth, the values of compassion, harmonious living and respect for elders. 
This was stated by Governor Haryana, Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Prof.Kaptan Singh Solanki while addressing the students at Toppers Felicitation Programme organised by Akhil Bhartiya Parishad at Panjab University, today. He also honored the meritorious students.
Prof. Solanki gave a clarion call to the students to uphold the great cultural values of our society and nation in his inspiring inaugural address. Congratulating the students who have topped in their classes, Prof Solanki, emphasized on skill building besides gaining knowledge. The students of today need to prepare themselves for the global development in their chosen careers. So along with their curriculums, they also need to acquire the skills needed for facing stiff competition that has become the buzzword in the current job scenario, he added.
The Governor further said that Prime Minister of India has initiated programmes, like Digital India, Skill India and Make in India, and the youth have to play a significant role to materialize these programmes. He said that he was confident that youth would succeed in making India one of the leading countries of the world in 21st Century.  
Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included, Advocate General Haryana Baldev Mahajan, Ex Mayor Chandigarh Smt. Raj Bala Malik.
