Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta conducted a comprehensive joint inspection of flood prevention arrangements across the district and directed all concerned departments, particularly the Irrigation Department, to ensure that all ongoing works are completed within the stipulated timeline of June 30, 2026.

Rohtak, April 18, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta conducted a comprehensive joint inspection of flood prevention arrangements across the district and directed all concerned departments, particularly the Irrigation Department, to ensure that all ongoing works are completed within the stipulated timeline of June 30, 2026.

Emphasizing proactive preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration is committed to putting in place robust, time-bound, and sustainable flood mitigation systems to eliminate water logging risks and safeguard both rural and urban areas during the upcoming monsoon season.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed desilting operations and instructed that:

* All drains must be thoroughly cleaned within the prescribed timeline
* Flow capacity must be ensured to avoid any obstruction during heavy rainfall
* Weak embankments must be strengthened immediately

During inspection of Drain No. 8 (Jind Road) and Lakhan Majra Link Drain crossing, strict directions were issued to ensure complete cleaning and reinforcement of embankments, especially in areas that witnessed breaches last year.

Significant flood protection works are being executed at critical locations:

* Kharkara Village:
    * 2250 feet long concrete protection wall
    * Cost: ₹2.5 crore
    * Target completion: Before June 30, 2026
* Bahlba Village:
    * Concrete protection wall along Meham Link Drain
    * Cost: ₹4.5 crore
    * Designed to prevent water ingress into residential areas

Additionally, a 12-feet wide drain system is being developed to channel excess water into the main drain using pumping systems. At Kharkara, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the pump house installed along Meham Link Drain, where:

* 3 high-capacity pumps have been installed
* Immediate water evacuation will be ensured during waterlogging situations

All pumps have been directed to be kept in fully functional condition for emergency use.

The Irrigation Department has completed cleaning of approximately 10 km stretch of major drains and remaining sections to be completed within the timeline.

Regular monitoring is being ensured to maintain progress and quality.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected:

* Irrigation Department workshop at Delhi Bypass
* Diesel and electric pumps readiness
* Newly constructed storage facilities

Instructions were issued to ensure:

* All equipment remains fully operational
* Emergency deployment readiness is maintained

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that:

* Flood preparedness is a top administrative priority
* All departments must work in close coordination
* No delay will be tolerated in critical works

With timely execution of works, infrastructure strengthening, and proactive monitoring, the district is moving towards:

* Reduced flood risk
* Improved drainage systems
* Safer villages and urban areas
* Better disaster preparedness
