AKHAADA 2018 at UILS

Chandigarh, April 6, 2018: The Sports Committee of UILS organised its first regional sports fest under the banner of "AKHAADA"18 from 4th to 6th April, 2018. It saw participation from various colleges from across the region namely University Institute of Engineering and technology, Department of laws, University Institute of Legal Studies, SD college sector-32 Chandigarh, Punjab Engineering College, PU Regional Center Ludhiana, Army Institute of Law Mohali and Rayat and Bahra University Ropar.

The three day long fest included the following events: marathon (5km), basketball, football, volleyball, kho kho, tug of war and athletics(100m, 400m, 4x100m relay, long jump, triple jump). The events were conducted from 10 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. in the PU Ground. The dedicated members of the sports committee left no stone unturned to make the event a huge success.

The first day started with the Marathon (5km) which was flagged off by Ram Gopal Garg, IPS who also participated in the event and gave students a tough fight. He emphasised on the need of sports as a part of the curriculum and how it is absolutely necessary for the overall growth of the students.

The fest was smoothly conducted with the cooperation of the Sports department, PU, Chandigarh and under the able guidance of Prof. Ratan Singh, Director UILS; Prof. Rajinder kaur and Dr. Bharat, Coordinators, Sports committee, UILS, PU, Chandigarh. The event would not have been possible without the support of Senior advocate Ms. Anu Chatrath, Dean of Law, PU; Dr Parminder Singh, Director of sports PU; Dr Nahar, Dean Student Welfare and Dr Neena, Dean welfare Women.
