Age no barrier to get back to sports: Dr. Kaushal

Jalandhar, November 21, 2021: The 4th State Masters Games concluded today at the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry(UHF), Nauni. Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Vice-Chancellor of the university was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kaushal lauded the efforts of the Master's Games Association for keeping the spirit and enthusiasm of sports high and despite the advent of Corona, the games were organized.
 
“Move towards the playground, which helps to keep one's mind and body healthy. Any activity which keeps you fit and physically strong must be followed and others must also be encouraged to follow the same”, said Dr. Kaushal.
 
He said that the association was spreading a great message that age is not a barrier to keeping one’s body fit and healthy. He appealed to everyone that the parents must encourage their children to take up sports along with excelling in studies. Dr. Kaushal heaped special praise on the participants in the 85+ age category for being ambassadors of the sports and fitness movement. 
 
Vinod Kumar Gupta, MD of Meridian Medicare was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of the Master's Games Association and congratulated the winners.

Earlier, Vinod Kumar, President of HP State Masters Games Association thanked and complimented the participants from various districts who took part in the games. He gave a brief background of the activities carried out by the association. During the two-day event over 300 participants from age groups of 30 to 85+ took part in 10 disciplines like athletics, hockey, volleyball, table tennis, etc. 
 
He shared that over 40,000 members of 28 associations throughout the country have become a part of the Master's Games in India. He said that the games provide a platform for all those who were wanting to take part in sporting activities. He said that the games are the true champion of Fit India movement. The Chief Guest also gave away the prizes to the winners of different events.
 
Tejashwani Sharma, General Secretary of HP State Master Games Association, Vice- Presidents Dr. Chandreshwar Sharma, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Yashpal Kapoor; Joint Secretary Manoj Kanwar, Seema Parmar, Kewal Ram, Suresh Handa and Executives of the District Association Rajesh Kaushik and Hem Kumar; Madan Himachali, Pradhan Nauni panchayat and officers of the University attended the event.
