Ludhiana, June 1, 2025: In a significant political development ahead of the Ludhiana (West) bypoll, Advocate Arun Khurmi today joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of the party’s Punjab state president Aman Arora.
The joining ceremony witnessed the presence of Punjab Ministers Tarunpreet Sond and Dr. Ravjot Singh, Rajbir Singh Ghuman (OSD to Punjab Chief Minister), and Member of Parliament Sanjeev Arora, AAP’s candidate for the Ludhiana (West) assembly seat, along with other senior party leaders.
Thanking the AAP leadership on his joining, Khurmi pledged to work wholeheartedly for the party and contribute actively to Sanjeev Arora’s election campaign.
Khurmi, a former Congress loyalist, previously shared close ties with Ravneet Singh Bittu, now Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing. He also served as the election in-charge for senior Congress leader and former Punjab Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who is currently contesting the Ludhiana (West) bypoll.
Khurmi’s induction into AAP is being viewed as a major blow to the Congress, particularly in the run-up to the crucial by-election in the Ludhiana (West) assembly constituency.
