Advanced cardiac, neuro cath lab launched at Max Hospital Bathinda

Punjab’s leading healthcare provider Max Super Specialty Hospital, Bathinda on Wednesday announced the launch of a neuro and cardiac intervention cath lab . The lab first of its kind in Malwa belt will help in accurate diagnosis and treatment of several cardiac and neurology-related ailments.

Bathinda, March 22, 2023:  Punjab’s leading healthcare provider Max Super Specialty Hospital, Bathinda on Wednesday announced the launch of a neuro and cardiac intervention cath lab . The lab first of its kind in Malwa belt will help in accurate diagnosis and treatment of several cardiac and neurology-related ailments.

The lab can also be used for visualisation of the arteries, veins and other vascular malformations of the brain, spinal cord and the heart.

Dr. Rohit Mody, director cardiology at Max Hospital said, “This cath lab is the most advanced way for the patients in cardiology and neurology diagnostics and treatment. It will help us in providing world class treatment to stroke patients not only form Bathinda but also from all over Punjab, Haryana & Rajasthan,”

Several treatment procedures can be done using the neuro intervention including removal of large clots from brain blood pipe,closure of abnormal vessels in the brain (aneurysms)and stenting of narrowed brain blood pipe, he informed.

Dr Gaurav Sharma neurosurgery consultant, said that about 80 percent of strokes are treatable.

Early treatment in a stroke ready hospital which has a dedicated stroke unit,brain scanning, thrombolysis and Cath Lab based intervention facilities results in early recovery and helps more people lead productive lives, he informed.

Dr. Pallav Jain neuro associate consultant at Max hospital Bathinda said the occurrence of stroke among Indians is high due to sedentary lifestyle  etc. It is no longer a disease for the elderly. A lot of younger patients are coming to hospital with strokes. It is important to reach the hospital early in golden period of 0-4.5 hours to get treated.
