Administration reviews preparations for Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela-2026 at Dussehra Ground, Khanna

Khanna (Ludhiana), February 17, 2026: The district administration on Tuesday held a detailed review for the upcoming Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela-2026, to be held at Dussehra Ground, Khanna, from February 21 to March 2, 2026.
The mela is being organized by Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in collaboration with the Industries and Commerce Department, under the RAMP Scheme and Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission. The mela aims to empower women entrepreneurs, self-help groups (SHGs), artisans, and female-led initiatives through stalls, cultural programmes, and exhibitions.
Khanna SDM Swati Tiwana, along with SDM Payal Pradeep Bains chaired the meeting and assessed the preparations with nodal officers of several committees, and representatives from different departments. Police arrangements for security and traffic will be handled by the District Police Khanna team.
The Mela Ground Committee has been tasked with setting up tents, rides, stalls, control room, toilet blocks, cleanliness, fire safety, and decorations. Executive Engineer, Electrical (Public Works Department) will ensure electricity supply to all stalls. The Municipal Council Khanna, will manage Wastewater drainage and ensure thorough cleaning of toilets.
The Culture Committee will ensure stage setup, daily cultural programmes featuring school and college children. Coordination with Deputy Director, Youth Services (Ludhiana and Patiala) will ensure artist selection, including a special programme by Ishmeet Academy students. Games and activities will boost energy, with departmental staff deployed for duties. District Education Officer (Secondary), Ludhiana, will arrange refreshments for participating school students.
The Medical Health Committee, in coordination with Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, will ensure first aid posts at the ground and accommodation sites, with an ambulance on standby. SMO Khanna has been instructed to complete all medical arrangements on time.
All other departments including PSPCL, transport,
SDMs stressed the need for seamless inter-committee coordination to ensure smooth and successful conduct of the mela. Any negligence or laxity in duties will not be tolerated.
