Ludhiana, June 8, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Poonam Singh on Monday met representatives of recognized and unrecognized political parties and urged them to ensure the appointment of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at all polling booths and support efforts to improve voter mapping coverage.
Singh informed the representatives that the list of unmapped voters has already been shared with political parties by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, while Booth Level Officers (BLOs) also possess the same list. She said BLAs can coordinate with BLOs to verify the list of unmapped voters and assist in ensuring their mapping. She further informed that around 18,718 voters were mapped during the special camp drive conducted on February 7. In Ludhiana, 2,048,484 out of 2,684,361 voters have already been mapped."
Singh also appealed to all political parties to actively participate in ensuring the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. She stated the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced revised schedule for SIR in Punjab. The house-to-house enumeration will now begin on June 25, while the draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3.
The period for filing claims and objections has been revised from August 3 to September 2, while the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will be carried out from August 3 to September 28, 2026.
“Every effort is being made to reach out to the maximum number of electors and complete the pre-mapping exercise before the commencement of the house-to-house enumeration phase,” Singh added.
