Ludhiana, February 26, 2026: In a move to encourage the maximum participation of the youth in the armed forces from the region, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Poonam Singh on Thursday issued directives to various departments to ensure extensive awareness about the Indian Army's Agniveer recruitment.
The online registration for Agniveer commenced on February 13 and will continue until April 1, 2026. Eligible unmarried youth (primarily male candidates across categories such as General Duty, Technical, Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, Tradesmen, etc.) can apply exclusively through the official website: joinindianarmy.nic.in. The recruitment covers various trades and is open to candidates from multiple districts, including Ludhiana, Moga, Mohali, and Rupnagar, among others in the region.
Presiding over the inter-departmental meeting, ADC Poonam Singh emphasized the importance of reaching out to maximum number of eligible youth, particularly in rural areas. She instructed the department of Rural Development and Panchayats to disseminate information widely through sarpanches, panchayat secretaries, village-level functionaries, and other community channels to ensure no deserving candidate misses this opportunity.
Additionally, the Education Department and District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE) have been tasked with organizing awareness drives in schools, colleges, and other agencies to wider awareness. These departments are to highlight the various posts available under Agniveer categories and guide youth on the application process, eligibility criteria, and benefits of serving in the Indian Army.
The service to the nation through the Armed Forces is not just a career but a matter of immense pride, honour, and responsibility," stated ADC Poonam Singh. She urged the youth to come forward enthusiastically, register online without delay, and seize this prestigious opportunity to serve the country.
