Ludhiana: There is a disturbing news for all as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ludhiana Anil Kohli has finally lost his battle while fighting against covid-19 today. 
The deceased police officer was tested positive on April 13. 

The Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on his twitter account has shared his condolence message stating “Sad to share that we had lost Gurmail Singh Kanungo yesterday & ACP Anil Kohli in Ludhiana to #Covid19 today. In this moment of crisis, losing our Corona Warriors is a big loss for the State. I join their families in this time of grief. Rest assured Punjab will stand by them.”

It may be mentioned here that this is the fourth death in Ludhiana district. 
The deceased police officer was on the ventilator since April 11. 
It may be mentioned here that in an official release issued here on April 17 it was revealed that in the first such COVID-19 treatment in the state, the Punjab Government is supporting the medical team of SPS Hospital Ludhiana which has decided to go for plasma therapy of Ludhiana ACP Mr Anil Kohli, who was diagnosed positive for the Coronavirus few days ago. 
It was mentioned in the yesterday’s release that, the family of the Punjab Police ACP, who is admitted in Ludhiana’s Apollo hospital, has given permission for the therapy, for which the DHS Punjab is coordinating potential plasma donors. The latest technology will be used in the therapy. The therapy is being arranged by the state government’s health advisor Dr KK Talwar, former Director of PGIMER. 
On Dr Talwar’s request, Dr Neelam Marwaha, former Head of Department, Blood Transfusion Department, PGI, had agreed to guide the efforts for plasma therapy, the release had further stated.
The yesterday’s release had also stated that, three persons who had come in contact with ACP Anil Kohli have also tested for COVID-19. They have been identified as his wife, Palak Kohli,  his driver Constable Prabhjot Singh of Ferozepur, and L/SI Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, SHO Jodhewal (in area of Sub Division under Anil Kohli).
Meanwhile, Rajnesh Dhiman, Vice President, BJP Ludhiana, in a statement today, has said “we salute to Corona Warriors who lost their lives while protecting lives of others.”

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday condoled the demise of ACP North Ludhiana Anil Kohli and Kanungo Gurmel Singh, both of whom had fallen victim to the COVID-19.
The Chief Minister announced Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia to the next of kin of both the officials, and also said a similar amount will be paid to the family of any officer who dies in the line of duty due to the Coronavirus.
“Deeply saddened to lose two of my officials to #Covid19. Have decided to pay Rs 50 lakhs ex-gratia to their next to kin. While I pray such an incident shouldn’t happen, but if it does, State Govt will pay Rs. 50 lakhs to NoK of officials who die in line of duty due to #Covid19,” he tweeted.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister remembered the ACP as a courageous officer, who always discharged his duties with utmost dedication, sincerity and professional commitment. Recalling his outstanding services in the Punjab police force, Capt. Amarinder said Kohli would remain an inspiration for the young officers in uniform. The ACP breathed his last this afternoon in DMC Ludhiana due to Covid-19. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Sharing his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family of ACP Kohli, DGP Dinkar Gupta said that with the passing away of ACP Anil Kohli, the Punjab Police had lost a courageous and dynamic officer. 
According to family sources, Kohli was cremated by his son Paras Kohli with full State honours at the Gas Crematorium in Ludhiana. His cremation was attended by Police Commissioner Ludhiana Rakesh Agarwal, besides Member Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu and many other elected representatives and dignitaries  from Ludhiana. 
Born and brought up at Jalandhar, Anil Kohli 38/PR, after completing BA in the year 1989, had joined Punjab Police as Assistant Sub Inspector on February 19, 1990 in district Patiala, when terrorism was at its peak. He completed his basic training at Punjab Police Academy Phillaur during 1990-91. 
During his initial service career, he fought valiantly against terrorism and later on, after being promoted as Sub Inspector and Inspector, served as Station House Officer in several prominent Police Stations across the state. Kohli had an unblemished police career of over 30 years, during which he earned many Commendation Certificates on account of his hard work and zeal. He was promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police on April 29, 2016, and served as DSP in district Khanna, Ferozepur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana City.

REAL TRIBUTE TO DECEASED ACP ANIL KOHLI WOULD BE THAT LUDHIANA RESIDENTS FIGHT JOINTLY AGAINST COVID 19: COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

Ludhiana: Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal today termed the untimely demise of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Anil Kohli due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) as tragic and said that his loss would never be filled. Mr Kohli was cremated with full state honours at the cremation ground near Dholewal, here today.
    The ACP’s cremation was also attended by Member of Parliament Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLA Ludhiana (East) Mr Sanjay Talwar, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, besides several others.
    Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal informed that ACP Mr Anil Kohli was an honest officer and was known in the police force for performing all his duties with utmost devotion and honesty. He informed that Mr Kohli was committed to his job and even during the COVID 19 outbreak, he performed his duty with utmost devotion.
    He also appealed to all officers and personnel of Ludhiana Police to never forget the sacrifice of ACP Mr Anil Kohli and should work even harder to score victory over COVID 19. He said that Punjab Police is known for its bravery and said that he feels proud of Ludhiana Police.
    He also appealed to the Ludhiana Police to ensure that they follow all directions issued by the Health Department regarding COVID 19 while performing their duty. He also asked them to maintain social distancing, repeatedly keep washing hands after some time, use sanitiser and face mask.

MP & MAYOR PERSONALLY SUPERVISE CREMATION:

and Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu today visited the cremation ground at least one hour early and personally supervised all the arrangements there. Mr Bittu said that all safety measures were taken during the cremation of ACP Mr Anil Kohli. Even a team of Municipal Corporation officials was also present on the spot, who helped in the cremation.
