A Strong and Developed India is Possible Only Through a Balance of Modernity and Tradition: HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan

Nilokheri, April 8, 2026: Employees and officials must equip themselves with proficiency in modern technologies—including Artificial Intelligence—and avail themselves of maximum training opportunities through the 'iGOT' platform to further strengthen their operational efficiency. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the listeners during the 'Ram-Ram Haryana' program, broadcast from the institute via 'Radio Gramoday 90.4 FM'. During the event, a special dialogue was organized focusing on the 'Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah', which is being observed nationwide from the 2nd to the 8th of the month; the session featured direct interaction with both on-site participants and radio listeners.

The HIRD Director, Dr. Chauhan said that while it is incumbent upon government officials and employees to become proficient in new technologies and discharge their duties with a spirit of service, it is equally essential for them to remain rooted in the Indian tradition of knowledge. Emphasizing the harmonious blend of modernity and tradition, he asserted that it is precisely through this balance that the realization of a strong and developed India becomes possible.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan noted that the present era is characterized by rapidly evolving technologies, making it imperative for every government official and employee to constantly update their skills and knowledge. He remarked that Artificial Intelligence, Digital Governance, and new information technologies serve not merely as tools to simplify work, but also as powerful instruments for enhancing transparency, speed, and effectiveness.

He urged officials to make optimal use of platforms such as 'iGOT' to further develop their capabilities and efficiency. He further emphasized that, alongside technological advancement, it is absolutely vital to internalize human values, ethics, and the Indian tradition of knowledge, ensuring that public service transcends the realm of mere obligation to become a potent vehicle for public welfare and nation-building.

During the program, Ranjit Singh, the Sarpanch (village head) of Gram Panchayat Kalampura, also shared his views, highlighting the pivotal role of public participation and awareness in rural development. He described such initiatives as crucial for fostering greater awareness within rural communities. During this event, Gram Sachiv Preeti, Senior Advisor Gurvinder Singh from the National Institute of Rural Development, Pritam Yadav from Apna Radio 91.2 FM, and Bharat Sopori from Radio Vitasta 90 FM Ambala were present, along with other dignitaries.
