93rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and PU alumnus Dr. Manmohan Singh
The Department of Economics, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, today observed the 93rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and PU alumnus Dr. Manmohan Singh in the Seminar Hall of Dr. Manmohan Singh Hall, Arts Block 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Chandigarh, September 26, 2025: The Department of Economics, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, today observed the 93rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and PU alumnus Dr. Manmohan Singh in the Seminar Hall of Dr. Manmohan Singh Hall, Arts Block 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The programme began with a welcome address and an introduction to Dr. Singh’s life and achievements by Alumni Coordinator Mandeep Singh Gill, who also shared his reflections on Dr. Singh’s contributions.
This was followed by the much-anticipated screening of a specially prepared documentary on Dr. Singh, narrating his journey, tracing his formative years, academic excellence, and leadership in India’s economic reforms.
This was followed by an engaging question–answer session. Chairperson of the Department, Dr. Smita Sharma, and Faculty Member Dr. Paramjit Singh appreciated the efforts made by Dr. Ramanjeet Kaur, Mandeep, and their team.
Students and faculty members of the Economics Department, along with students and faculty from other departments, visited Dr. Manmohan Singh’s preserved room on the second floor of the Department between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. The room offers an insightful glimpse into his student life at Panjab University.
Faculty members of different departments graced the event with their presence and paid tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh.
The event concluded on a note of admiration and inspiration, honouring Dr. Singh’s legacy of intellect, simplicity, and service.
