Chandigarh, June 20, 2025: An 8-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Universal Human Values – II (UHV-II), concluded today at the MMTTC, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

 

As many as 60 enthusiastic faculty members and research scholars from across India and abroad, including delegates from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, as well as international participants from Ethiopia and Tanzania participated in the FDP, approved by AICTE and supported by RUSA 2.0, ICSVS, and CIIPP, Panjab University.

 

The FDP was inaugurated under the patronage of PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig, who has been a committed proponent of integrating value-based education in academic institutions.

 

Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Psychology and Emeritus Professor Dr. Jitendra Mohan was the chief guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Mohan encouraged the audience to reflect on three fundamental questions—What is the most precious thing in life? What is the biggest value you think you have? What is the worst value you think other individuals have?—emphasising that the answers to these questions are key to living a value-oriented and meaningful life.

 

Guest of Honor Prof. D. R. Prajapati, Dean Student Welfare at Punjab Engineering College, discussed the integration of UHV into the first-year B.E. curriculum at PEC and its noticeable positive impact on students’ ethical development. The program also included insightful sessions by AICTE Resource Persons. Dr. Priya Darshni spoke on fostering harmony through human values, Dr. Manisha Gupta addressed the basic aspirations of human beings and the universal pursuit of happiness, while Mr. Krishan Kumar, AICTE Observer, ensured smooth coordination and adherence to AICTE norms.

 

Earlier, setting the tone for the program, FDP Coordinator Prof. Shankar Sehgal highlighted the importance of UHV as a guiding compass for life. He elaborated on the central theme of the program: “How UHV Helps in Improving Inner Happiness which Leads to a Smiling Face Always under Any Circumstance in Life.”

 

Among the notable attendees were Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Director UIET, who appreciated the UHV Cell’s initiative and the active engagement of participants, and Dr. Parveen Goyal, NSS Coordinator, who delivered the vote of thanks and acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders and contributors.

 

The FDP saw participation from reputed institutions including IIT Ropar, Punjab Engineering College, and various Central and State Universities, creating a vibrant and collaborative platform for academic dialogue around Universal Human Values in higher education.
