The Student Welfare Committee of Doaba College Jalandhar celebrated 74th Republic Day and Basant Panchami with great enthusiasm and gaiety on Thursday.

Jalandhar, January 26, 2023: The Student Welfare Committee of Doaba College Jalandhar celebrated 74th Republic Day and Basant Panchami with great enthusiasm and gaiety on Thursday. Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari grace the occasion as the chief guest. He was accorded a hearty welcome by Prof. Surjit Kaur, Prof. Sonia Kalra -Coordinators,  Prof. Sandeep Chahal- Staff Secretary, Prof. Arvind Nanda, Prof. Ira Prashar, Dr. Naresh Malhotra, Dr. Kuldeep Yadav,  Teaching & Non Teaching Staff, NCC cadets and students. 

The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the National flag and the National Anthem. Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari addressed the august gathering and appraised them about the relevance of Republic Day and Basant Panchami. He threw light on the meanings of Swatantrat and Ganatantra and urged everyone to work for the progress of the country by performing one's duties and responsibilities in spite of the challenges. He highlighted the achievements of the college and underscored the steps it has taken to ensure the overall development of its students. He briefly discussed the steps taken in the fields of ICT tools, teaching methods, workshops, seminars being organized for the personality development of students. He also emphasized on two challenges of waste management and traffic problem and discussed the different strategies to be followed in solving these problems. He  congratulated the  Student Welfare committee for organising this event and making it a success. 

The students gave outstanding performances in the form of poems, patriotic songs, group songs, Hindi natak and aroused the spirit of love for motherland among all. They also pledged themselves to uphold the sanctity on National Voters Day. 

To celebrate Basant Panchami Saraswati Puja was held by principal and faculty members followed by Saraswati Vandana and performances by the students. 

NCC cadets were honoured on this occasion and prizes were given to the winners of   Essay Writing competitions and Declamation Contest. The infectious beats of Bhangra filled the gathering with great energy and enthusiasm. 

Prof. Surjit Kaur presented the vote of thanks. Kalpana, Rishika, Mitali and Vidhi coordinator for the activities and conducted the show effectively.
