72nd Annual Athletic Meet of Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges Gurusar Sadhar

The 72nd Annual Athletic Meet of Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges (Degree College, College of Pharmacy, College of Education) held on Monday with great fervour in the presence of the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sanjeev Arora as the Chief Guest.

Ludhiana, March 11, 2025: The 72nd Annual Athletic Meet of Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges (Degree College, College of Pharmacy, College of Education) held on Monday with great fervour in the presence of the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sanjeev Arora as the Chief Guest. 

Sanjeev Arora was welcomed by the President of the College Governing Council, Manjeet Singh Gill, the principals of all three colleges, and the entire staff. 

In his address, Sanjeev Arora mentioned that it was his first visit to this college. He appreciated the high standards of all the facilities being provided at the college. As a result, the college produced four Olympians. He further said that the students should utilise the facilities provided by the college, and achieve even greater accomplishments. He expressed happiness on the care and maintenance of the college infrastructure, and its growth in leaps and bounds. He presented a copy of the Indian Constitution to the college and also announced a grant of 15 lakh rupees from his discretionary fund for the development of the college.

The athletic meet began with a spectacular march-past by the athletes from all three colleges, NSS Volunteers, and NCC Cadets. Sanjeev Arora saluted the march-past from the stage and declared the start of the athletic meet. 

Manjeet Singh Gill, President of the College Governing Council, extended a warm welcome to all the guests, including the Chief Guest. Principal of the college, Prof. Inderjeet Singh, presented the annual report of the three colleges, highlighting the academic and cultural achievements,  and specifically showcasing the medals won by the athletes at university, inter-university, national, and international levels. 

Principal of the college of Education, Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, thanked everyone for their support. 

On this occasion, the Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries, honored the members of staff of Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, and Master Athlete Ranjit Singh for his national-level achievements. 

Additionally, NCC Cadets Anjali Gupta, Pavanpreet Singh, Gursharanpreet Kaur, and Pradeep were also honored. The college's Bhangra team performed Bhangra, the famous folk dance of Punjab.

In this athletic meet, various exciting competitions were held, including the race of 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, long jump, and tug-of-war, among boys and girls from all three colleges. The winners were awarded medals and certificates. On this occasion, Herrina Gill, Dr. Swaranjeet Singh Deol, Avtar Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh Brar, Harjinder Singh Brar, Charanjit Singh Gill, Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Karnvir Singh, Prof. Baljeet Kaur, and others were also present. The role of stage management was well handled by Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Dr. Minni Sharma, Dr. Jasveer Kaur, and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Gulati.

Arshdeep Kaur and Vivek Kumar from Degree College, Manraj Singh Dhaliwal and Janvi from Pharmacy College, and Navpreet Singh and Muskaan from Education College were declared the Best Athletes. Similarly, Avtar Singh and Rajni Kaur from Khalsa Collegiate Public Senior Secondary School, Gurusar Sadhar, were declared the Best Athletes.
