6th ICOHOST 2024 at GNA University

School of Hospitality at GNA University organised two days 6th International Conference on Hospitality & Tourism under the aegis of ICOHOST 2024. The main theme of this year Conference was ‘‘Culinary Tourism: Nourishing Experiences and Enriching Destinations’’. The sole objective of the Conference was to promote culinary tourism in India for experiencing and promoting culinary destinations.

Jalandhar, April 9, 2024: School of Hospitality at GNA University organised two days 6th International Conference on Hospitality & Tourism under the aegis of ICOHOST 2024. The main theme of this year Conference was ‘‘Culinary Tourism: Nourishing Experiences and Enriching Destinations’’. The sole objective of the Conference was to promote culinary tourism in India for experiencing and promoting culinary destinations. 

The Conference was announced open by Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Chancellor, GNA University. He even launched the souvenir at the Conference. Prof. Hemant Sharma, the Pro Vice-Chancellor delivered the Welcome Address and the Conference theme was introduced by Dr. Deepak Kumar, the Conference Chairperson. 

Chef Manjeet Singh Gill, President, Indian Federation of Culinary Association (IFCA) was the Chief Guest of the Conference. The Keynote address was delivered by Chef Sita Raman Prasad, Vice President, IFCA. 

On this occasion, the eminent academic experts were Dr. Chef Parvinder Singh Bali, Director, School of European Pastry and Culinary Arts and Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, Ex Principal, IHM Bhopal. Among industry experts present, there were Chef Vijay Bhaskaran (general secretary IFCA) and Chef Ajay Sood (chef consultant). 

During the on-going Conference, three workshops were simultaneously organised by Chef Ashish Nikoonj, Chef Jaswinder Singh and by Karamat respectively.

Many delegates and research scholars from across the country participated in the Conference. A panel discussion was also held where the various industry experts held interaction with students. Two technical sessions were held in which more than 20 research papers were presented by delegates and research scholars. 

Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Chancellor expressed, “I am delighted to witness the efforts of the Hospitality Team in organizing this International Conference in full swing.”

Dr. VK Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor said, “It is a matter of pride to see the active participation of the research scholars, students and faculty members in the Conference of international repute.”

Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics said, “The University always makes special efforts in leveling up academics to a new level through the research in various disciplines.”
