Jalandhar, October 8, 2015: 63rd Convocation of Doaba College, Jalandhar was held in Virendra Auditorium today. Balramji Das Tandon-Governor Chhattisgarh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Chuni Lal Bhagat-Cabinet Minister Punjab, MLA Manoranjan Kalia, K.D.Bhandari-Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Tikshan Sood-Advisor Chief Minister, Sunil Jyoti-Mayor, Subhash Chander Sood, Rakesh Rathore, Bakshi Ram Arora, Naresh Sharma, Mahinder Bhagat as Guests of honour. The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Sh. Chander Mohan- President Arya Shiksha Mandal & College Managing Committee, Sh. Alok Sondhi- General Secretary, Sh. Rajinder Mayor, Principal Dr. Naresh Kumar Dhiman, Staff and students. Presiding over the function Sh. Chander Mohan said, “Sh. Balramji Das Tandon is a multi-faceted personality who has contributed a lot to the society; therefore students can take inspiration from such a magnanimous personality.” Principal Dr. Naresh Kumar Dhiman formally welcomed the dignitaries and read the annual report of the various activities in the college. Chief Guest Sh. Balramji Dass Tandon said that the youth of today should not follow the proverb of get rich quick , instead they should work hard with single minded devotion to achieve their goal in life.
Sh. Balramji Das Tandon and Sh. Chander Mohan formally released searchable format Android Application of Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s renowned book ‘Satyarth Parkash’ in 13 languages, now duly visible to all the researchers on their mobile phones. It is noteworthy that searchable format Android Application of book Satyarth Parkash is developed by Prof. Gurmeet Singh of the college and the used Hindi Fonts in this Android Application are developed by Principal Dr. Naresh Kumar Dhiman of the college.
Sh. Chander Mohan, Sh. Yash Raj Aggarwal, Sh. Alok Sondhi, Sh. Rajinder Mayor and Principal Dr. Naresh Kumar Dhiman presented a silver plaque and shawl to the chief guest Sh. Balramji Das Tandon.
On this occasion nearly 338 under graduate and post graduate students of session 2013-14 were presented degrees which include students of entire BA 50, B.Com/BBA 114, Sciences-BCA/B.Sc IT/BSc BT 60, Postgraduate classes MA (English, Pol Science, Economics, Punjabi)/MAJMC/MSc Maths/M.Com/M.Sc (IT)/CS – 114. Principal Dr. Atima Sharma, Sh. Dhruv Mittal, Dr. Sushma Chawla, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Staff and Students were present on the occasion. Sh. Alok Sondhi extended a vote of thanks.
