Ludhiana, February 28, 2024: The 57th Annual Athletic Meet, organised by the Directorate Students’ Welfare, kicked off at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today.
Students from on-campus colleges, namely College of Agriculture, College of Horticulture and Forestry, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, College of Community Science; off-campus College of Agriculture, Ballowal Saunkhri; and outstation Institutes of Agriculture at Bathinda and Gurdaspur, exhibited true sportsmanship in all the sports events held today.
Lauding the students for their energetic performances, Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, called for maintaining pleasant equilibrium between academics and sports for physical and mental well-being.
The formal inauguration will take place tomorrow on February 29 at 9.30 am, wherein Sanjeev Arora, Member, Rajya Sabha, will be the chief guest; and HS Barsat, Chairman, Punjab Mandi Board, will be the guest of honour, he told.
Lieutenant General JS Cheema, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala, will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, slated for 4.00 pm tomorrow.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will preside over both the events, he informed.
