Rural infrastructure and community development initiatives are witnessing steady progress across villages of Rohtak district, with 61 works completed under the Shiv Dham scheme and 51 Atal Libraries established in Gram Panchayats, said Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta while reviewing the progress of rural development projects in the district.

Rohtak, March 5, 2026: Rural infrastructure and community development initiatives are witnessing steady progress across villages of Rohtak district, with 61 works completed under the Shiv Dham scheme and 51 Atal Libraries established in Gram Panchayats, said Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta while reviewing the progress of rural development projects in the district.

Chairing a review meeting of the Development & Panchayats Department and Rural Development Department, the Deputy Commissioner said that sustained and coordinated efforts by all concerned departments in partnership with Gram Panchayats have accelerated the pace of rural development, resulting in visible improvements in village infrastructure and community facilities.

Reviewing village connectivity projects, officials informed that 18 works have been sanctioned under the programme for development of village phirnis in villages with population above 1,000 at a cost of ₹8.99 crore. Out of these, 12 works have already been completed, while the remaining works are progressing. These projects are expected to significantly improve internal connectivity and facilitate smoother movement within villages.

Efforts to strengthen public safety and convenience through improved lighting infrastructure are also underway. Twenty-six works have been sanctioned under the Streetlight on Phirni project, of which six have already been completed, while the remaining works are progressing.

The meeting also reviewed progress under the Shiv Dham development programme, aimed at strengthening community spaces and improving infrastructure at religious and social gathering places in villages. In Rohtak district, 90 works have been sanctioned under the scheme, out of which 61 works have already been completed, while the remaining works are nearing completion.

Progress related to strengthening governance infrastructure at the village level was also reviewed. Twenty-five Gram Sachivalaya projects have been sanctioned in the district, out of which one has been completed, while the remaining projects are at various stages of implementation. These centres will help improve accessibility and delivery of government services in rural areas.

Significant strides have also been made in strengthening youth and community facilities. A total of 51 Atal Libraries have been established in Gram Panchayats, providing learning spaces and digital access for rural youth. In addition, 37 indoor gyms have been established, while 73 gym facilities have been equipped with fitness equipment, promoting a culture of health, sports and fitness in villages.

Projects under Yog and Vyayamshala are also being implemented to encourage physical activity and community wellness. Forty-three such works have been sanctioned in the district, several of which have already been completed while the remaining are progressing.

Development and renovation of community assets is also moving ahead steadily. Sixteen works for renovation of Mahila Chaupals have been sanctioned, of which 10 works have already been completed, while the remaining works are under progress. Similar initiatives are also being undertaken to strengthen SC and BC community chaupals in villages.

Progress under Mukhyamantri Grameen Awas Yojana 2.0 was also reviewed during the meeting. Officials informed that 176 residential plots have been identified for beneficiaries in Rohtak district, out of which 166 beneficiaries have deposited the required amount and 163 registries have already been executed. The scheme is helping provide secure housing opportunities to eligible rural families.

Highlighting the importance of participatory planning in rural development, the Deputy Commissioner said that special Gram Sabha meetings have been conducted in 142 Gram Panchayats, where development priorities are being identified and works are being finalised through Gram Sabha resolutions.

Directing officers to maintain the momentum of development works, DC Sachin Gupta said that all concerned departments must work in close coordination with Gram Panchayats to ensure timely completion of projects and continuous improvement in village infrastructure and public amenities.

He added that the district administration will continue to closely monitor the progress of development initiatives through regular review meetings and field inspections, so that the benefits of government schemes reach rural residents effectively.
