3rd Intra Department Trial Advocacy Competition

University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized the 3rd Intra Department Trial Advocacy Competition under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur, Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Sarabjit Kaur and Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, Faculty Coordinator of Moot Court Society, UILS, PU, Chandigarh.

3rd Intra Department Trial Advocacy Competition

Chandigarh, March 13, 2023: University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized the 3rd Intra Department Trial Advocacy Competition under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur, Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Sarabjit Kaur and Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, Faculty Coordinator of Moot Court Society, UILS, PU, Chandigarh. 

More than 150 students participated in the event showcasing their knowledge and legal prowess. The competition was based on legal issues involving the application of criminal law and medical jurisprudence. 40 teams participated in the event and went head to head against each other. The first preliminary round took place on March 10, 2023. Following this, the second preliminary round as well as the octa and quarter final rounds were held on March 11, 2023. The semi-final rounds and final round were conducted on March 12, 2023. The final round of the competition was judged by Hon’ble Justice Mr. B.S. Walia (Punjab & Haryana High Court) along with Senior Advocate Mr. Sunil Chadha, Senior Advocate Mr. Vikram Chaudhri, Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, Associate Professor (Law) and Dr. Sabina Salim, Assistant Professor (Laws).

The event culminated with the valedictory ceremony wherein a team comprising Harsh Vasu Gupta, Anoushka Randeva and Nimish Bedi emerged victorious in the final round, while Vaibhav Bansal, Navraj Rawl and Bharat Jangra were adjudged as the runners-up. Behind the scenes, the Moot Court Society left no stone unturned for the successful conduct of the competition.

Led by Gauri Chander Kaushal (President), Sayyam Garg (Convenor) and Anupam Kakkar (Co-Convenor) and their two event coordinators Harsh Rana and Vishesh Jain, the Moot Court Society with the dedicated assistance of more than 150 volunteers were able to make this event a grand success.
