26-year brain-dead man gives new lease of life to six patients

Bengaluru, January 27, 2021: A 26-year-old man from Bangalore was admitted to Manipal Hospital, Varthur Road two weeks ago for emergency (Road Traffic Accident). After several tests and treatments, the patient showed no sign of improvement and was declared brain dead. After consent from the patient’s family members, the organs were harvested for donation. The patient's organs have given a fresh lease of life to six people. While the heart was donated to a 38-year-old male at Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, the liver was harvested for a 66-year-old male, the kidney was transplanted to a 61-year-old patient in Manipal Hospital, Varthur Road, and another kidney was sent to be transplanted in a 48-year-old, male and the Cornea to Sankara Nethralaya.
