1.25 lakh lamps illuminate Rohtak under Seva Sankalp drive

Rohtak, September 17, 2026: More than 1.25 lakh mustard-oil lamps were lit across Rohtak district on Wednesday under the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ module of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, with prominent public places, development projects and religious sites illuminated as part of the campaign.

Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry, who attended the main function near Bajrang Bhawan on the elevated railway track, said a long-pending project related to agriculture and irrigation would give a major boost to Haryana’s farming sector.

“Haryana is an agriculture-driven state and better irrigation facilities are vital for farmers,” Choudhry said, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for decisions aimed at strengthening agriculture and development.

The elevated railway track was specially illuminated for the occasion. Former minister Manish Grover, Deputy Commissioner Satbir Singh, ADC Narendra Kumar, BJP district president Ranveer Singh Dhaka and senior officials also participated in the lamp-lighting programme.

Grover described Rohtak’s 4.8-km elevated railway track as a major infrastructure project, saying it was built at a cost of around ₹315 crore with the support of the Centre and state government. The project has eliminated four railway level crossings and helped ease traffic congestion in the city.

He said a new road was being constructed along the old railway alignment from Chinyot Colony to Sector 6 at a cost of around ₹21.27 crore.

In Sampla, nearly 30,000 lamps were lit across the Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi Assembly constituency. The statue of Chaudhary Chhotu Ram was specially illuminated. The statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Modi during his 2018 visit to Sampla.

Around 30,000 lamps were also lit in Meham, including at the historic baoli, government buildings, educational institutions, religious places and major development projects. A health camp at Madina village provided eye, ENT, dental, child-health, blood pressure, sugar and haemoglobin tests besides Ayushman card services.

Kalanaur Assembly constituency also witnessed the lighting of around 30,000 lamps at polling stations, public buildings, educational institutions, health centres, religious sites and other identified locations.
