Prof. R.K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Agrasen University has inaugurated 10th HOSTOCON (Hospitality and Tourism Conference)  Titled “‘Balancing Act: Integrating Sustainability into Tourism and Hospitality” organized by University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, Panjab University.

Chandigarh, February 29, 2024: Prof. R.K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Agrasen University has inaugurated 10th HOSTOCON (Hospitality and Tourism Conference)  Titled “‘Balancing Act: Integrating Sustainability into Tourism and Hospitality” organized by University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, Panjab University.
 
As a part of extension program UIHTM is organizing this conference in association with Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Sector 42, Chef Association of India and Chef Association of Five Rivers. The conference is of two days in which the first day’s activities were organized at AIHM, Sector 42 Campus and second day sessions and events shall be organized at UIHTM, PU.
 
Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar Panjab University was the presiding guest. in his delibration he said that embracing sustainable energy in tourism and hospitality fosters environmental responsibility. Implementing solar, wind, or geothermal power reduces carbon footprint, conserves resources, and attracts eco-conscious travelers. Sustainable practices not only benefit the planet but also enhance the industry's appeal, aligning with the growing demand for responsible and ethical travel experiences.
 
Prof. Joseph Cheer, West Sydney University, Australia in his Key note address has shown a detail of researches being conducted in the field of tourism and hospitality. He started his address by the quote ‘Atithi Devo Bhav’ where he spoke about the rich hospitality traditions of India. He shared that Indian Traditional Knowledge was full of spirit of sustainability. He advised researchers to not to always look toward western world but he emphasized that we must appreciate great Indian knowledge.
 
The conference is having international delegates from Finland, Philippines, Malaysia, UK, Iran, Vietnam & Uzbekistan.
